In this post, let us know Vista Sidebar Gadget before we use the Gadgets in our Windows Vista.
First of all, it is need to know what is the Widgets?
Widgets (or Widget engine) has been developed for simple purposes in the desktop when the PCs was not multitasking.
Nowadays, Widgets made by Java Script or XML codes are widely used for many applications although the multi-tasking of the PCs is possible.
Similar to these Desktop Widgets, Vista Sidebar Gadgets which are main topic of my blog are one of the Desktop Widgets.
From dictionary, Gadgets mean that "A small specialized mechanical or electronic device; a contrivance." and especially for our Gadgets in this post mean Electronic Gadgets.
For instance, MP3 player and PDA are Gadgets, so the Electronic Gadgets have same meaning with Gadgets.
Because of that, Google and Vista may named their Widgets Gadgets.
Besides, there are Web Widgets which can be used for your webpages.
Functionally Web Widgets same with Desktop Gadgets but they only used in websites.(ex. Google Web Gadget)
Because of Widgets' wide applicability to many purposes, Windows Vista accepted the Widget systems as a Sidebar Gadget program.
Sidebar Gadgets can be downloaded via Widows Live Gallery where many Gadgets are updating from developers.
If you know HTML, CSS, and Java Script, the Gadget developing is easy.
So many users (developers) are sharing Gadgets in Widows Live Gallery and Microsoft promotes the developments of Gadgets and provides developer manuals and forums through Developer Center.
